ALES

HIGH FERMENTATION BEERS

Beers that generally have more aromatic qualities, possibly with fruity or spicy notes, and can be more complex, intense and alcoholic.

For example:
Hoegaarden, Leffe Blonde and Goose Island IPA.

LAGERS

LOW FERMENTATION BEERS
Fermented at cooler temperatures with bottom ferm enting yeast, Lagers tend to be more subtle, more crisp, clean.

For example:
Budweiser, Corona and Stella Artois.

While most lagers are blond and around 5 % ABV, remember that it's not the yeast that defines the colour nor the strength but the malt.

i.e. Black Lager, Doppelbock
